During events leading to the 2022 General elections, the Central organization of trade unions secretary general Francis Atwoli expressed confidence that Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Amollo Odinga would be the next president of Kenya.
To top it all he opposed the move of Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Wetangula teaming up with Ruto.
According to Atwoli back then, Musalia and Wetangula teaming up with Ruto would not have benefited the luhya nation and mudavadi would not be able to deliver luhya votes into Ruto’s bucket.
The outspoken Trade unionist and president William Ruto, had been politically spiteful against each other especially during the campaign period.
However, after the court upheld the election of Ruto as the 5TH President of Kenya Atwoli changed tune hailing the president for his smartness. Since then Atwoli has been leaning towards the government and backing some of its decision.
Following the turn of events yesterday when Ruto and Atwoli met in state house Nairobi, he appears to have submitted to Ruto’s government completely. The meeting was also attended by other western leaders.Among them was national assembly speaker Moses wetangula, prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi ,senator Boni Khalwale among others.
Claims are there that Atwoli has been pushing for this meeting.
The one time political enemies who hail from the western Kenya region seems to be coming together for the sake of luhya nation interests.
