The deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has told meru governor Kawira Mwangaza that he and president Ruto will organize a meeting with meru political leaders.
Speaking during a church service in Embu County yesterday,Gachagua said that the meeting will restore peace in Meru county.
This comes after meru governor Kawira Mwangaza pleaded with the president to intervene in the wrangles in Meru County.
However, speaking after a church service in Igoji, Meru nominated women MCAs says that not even the president can save kawira from impeachment. They stated that they will reintroduce an impeachment motion in the county assembly.
This is after the high court stopped debate on the previous impeachment motion. The MCAs have vowed not to go on recess until the impeachment motion succeds.
Justice Thripsisa Cherera ruled that the high court has jurisdiction to issue conservatory orders sought by the governor. Therefore it stopped Meru county assembly members from debating the impeachment motion against Governor Kawira Mwangaza.Hours after that ruling the governor made a unique sorry 70 time’s to the 69 mca’s and 1 for the county speaker.
Despite that, the county assembly members says they are not ready for the apology. They now claim the apology was not sincere and the governor just said that in order to blindfold common Meru residents. They have gone ahead and asked the governor to make them understand why it was easy for her to travel to Embu County to meet the president yesterday but when he was in Maua,Meru county for a thanksgiving service after elections, she did not go there.
