After a two-week visit to the United Kingdom, embattled former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has flown back into the nation.
According to reports, Matiang’i traveled to the European country in his personal capacity to handle an important family situation.
On Saturday night at 10:00 pm, the ex-CS arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on KLM Flight 0566, according to sources.
Matiang’i is anticipated to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Monday.
The DCI has been looking into Matiang’i and questioning him on the purported police raid on his home in February.
As Matiang’i may have disseminated incorrect information about the supposed police raid a fortnight ago, Senior Superintendent of Police Michael Sang had already issued an order requiring him to attend at DCI headquarters.
In a later defense, his attorney Danstan Omari pointed out that neither the former CS nor his legal counsel had received a directive specifying how summonses should be issued, arguing that the DCI did not follow the proper protocol.
Matiang’i will voluntarily show up for questioning, Omari continued, should the DCI adhere to the summons’ predetermined rules.
