Radio presenter Maina Kageni has stated that he has not used a matatu in the last 26 years.
This is after Mwalimu King’ang’i asked him when was his last time he walked or even used a matatu.Maina responded stating that he has not walked for a long time and that he last used a matatu in 1997.Maina said he would be interested to board a matatu soon to a destination of his choice.
“The last time I walked on foot, to where? Let me be honest. I used Matatu the last time in 1997. I need one sacco to volunteer to take me anywhere to Kilimani. Mheshimiwa, Patricia Mutheu, Acting CEO Matatu Owners Association, please organise a sacco,” he said.
King’ang’i then told Maina to try a matatu in a busy route like Githurai for him to have a good experience.
“You had a car in 1997? You will not enjoy going to Kilimani, You need to go to Githurai 45 and give the Makanga 1000 bob so that you see how you will concentrate. You will not let him go,” King’ang’i told Maina.
Maina Kageni is not the only public figure who has not used a matatu for a long period of time. Vera Sidika has not boarded a matatu for 14 years now.
The last time she used a matatu was in 2009 when she had just joined University.
Speaking to her fans through a Q and A session on Instagram, the mother of one said she bought her first car while she was a first-year student at Kenyatta University.
A fan asked Vera, “End of 2009 in Uni as a fresher before I got my first car.” she responded.
